Well, the car got a flat tire just before Rochester NY so we're in Victor NY which is right before Roch. We're sort of home. But it's a cool place.

So, I've been in MA and VT for the last day or so, but it's been fun. Right now we're in the hotel room watching "Angels in the Outfield" - there's an old black and white version of it; it's much better than the one I thought was the only one. There are so many gorgeous old buildings out here - I wish I'd brought my camera with me - I forgot that I could buy film for it on the drive here, not just in Rochester before we left. It feels weird that Rachel has graduated already. The commencement speakers were great though! I couldn't see anything there, but it was pretty good.
We also have gotten to spend some time with Mom's friends from the church choir at home - they moved to Burmingham, VT, about a year ago - maybe not quite that long - and it's been nice to see them again. We just found out that they're expecting a baby in January; I'm happy for them.
I'm getting spoiled with the wi-fi at this hotel - I like it. So much e-mail time and I'm not tying up the phone either. Everything loads up so quickly too. I may have to figure out how to pay for my own wi-fi to go with my laptop. Oh well, we'll see.

It's been a little bit since I've last posted, but not as long as it has been. And I'm at home now - I was successful in getting connected to the neighbor's wi-fi. Not much has happened since I last posted. Last Friday I went to the LHS football game - it was mostly exciting to watch - we kept fumbling the ball though. We didn't take long enough to score for our last touchdown - we gave the other team enough time to get a field goal and win the game. That was the one draw back. It was fun looking at my brother's yearbook from last year though. Some of the faculty and staff submitted their senior pictures and you got to guess who was who. Some were really obvious and some really weren't and then there were a few that we didn't guess but on second look could tell (one of them we thought we should have been able to recognize but we didn't).

This weekend is going to be a bit busy - my boss is on vacation so I worked from 8:30 to 5:30 today, and it's my weekend to work, so I'll work from 9:30 to 5:30 tomorrow and 1:30 to 5:30 on Sunday. Oh well, it will be nice on the pacheck. Because I work tomorrow I'm going to miss out on going to the Waseca Marching Band Competition - it's their 25th anniversary so they'll have fireworks. My mom and my sister are going to watch my brother compete in it, but I don't get to. But I'll easily entertain myself still.

Well, I'm doing better now. I think I might start posting more regularly with the laptop - especially when I go to the library every so often to borrow the wi-fi. I won't feel so guilty about hogging the phone line now.

Not too much has happened since I last posted. Rachel made it safely to Bennington again! She called every so often to let us know where she was and that at least for the moment she was okay - and then we got the final "I'm there message." She had a huge dilemma in deciding if she would go get her stuff from storage right away or not though. She was tired and wanted to just go to bed,but she also wanted a real bed, which meant getting her sheets from storage. I haven't yet heard if she actually did or not. We've been playing phone tag for a couple of days now. Hopefully tonight we'll actually get to talk.

I've been working a bit more on my newest short story - I mostly like it, but I have a lot left for it. I'm currently working through a spot that I only sort of know how I want it to go, and it's a little frustrating. A couple of days ago when I was working on it I had to give up actually writing the story and look at creating a new document of brainstorming ideas of what should happen next. That session helped a bit, but possibly not enough.

Yesterday, there was such a lovely breeze that I decided we needed to turn the air conditioner off and open the windows as wide as possible - so I did. Then the breeze really made me want to make an apple pie (or molasses sugar cookies (the night before Erin had smelled my holiday spice cocoa mix and pointed out that it smelled like those cookies)). So, last night I made a pie crust and left it to chill overnight (forgetting that although the recipe says it's only for one crust, since I was using it for two, I really ought to make two balls of it not one) and then Erin and I made cookies - so she could bring some for dessert at work - today is her first saturday/weekend (she will also work tomorrow). This morning I peeled, cored, and sliced a lot of apples and rolled out the crust. I mixed the spices with the apple slices and put them in the bottom crust (I probably could have cut one or two fewer apples, so I froze some of them for later) and then put the top crust on. Because of my crust error yesterday it doesn't look very pretty, but unless mom doesn't get home in time to prevent it from burning, it should taste wonderful.

This weekend is going to be interesting because it's Jimmy's turn with the baby for school. I realized this morning that this will be the first time I'm home when the baby is when it's not my homework. I was off at college when Erin and Rachel had it. Oh, well.

Thursday night was quite interesting. Mom's helping with the civic theatre play again and that was preview night. The current play is "Clue: The Musical" It wasn't quite what I expected, but I still enjoyed it. There is a little bit of audience participation involved in that three audience members get randomly selected to draw a card each from the three decks - selecting who, where, and with what. Then the audience also gets to play along, hearing clues and in the end guessing what the cards are - so there are many different ending (some of the lines change - mostly for Mr. Boddy). I found through the play that none of the characters are all that likeable - not even the murdered Mr. Boddy. It's still a fun play, and I would recommend anyone who can to see it.

It seems to be a theme here, but it's been a long time since I last posted. Here's a rather brief update. One of the most exciting things that I've done lately (and it is pretty exciting) is that I bussed out to Vermont to visit my sister Rachel at college. I hung out for a few days; I got to see the campus and I met a lot her friends. Then she and her friend Erica drove home while I navigated (Erica came to visit as well). Aside from having a bit of bus trouble and having to spend the night in the Syracuse bus depot it was a very fun trip. I would like to be able to do it again sometime, but I don't know when - she's a senior this year so it would have to be soon.

I've continued to work at the Rochester Public Library shelving books and stuff - I keep finding too many books to read, but I'm not really worried about that. I've applied for a couple of part time circ desk positions, but haven't gotten either of them. Erin has now graduated from college and is working at the library as well so that's exciting.

Rachel and I got a family share plan cell phone thing, so we both now have cell phones. We both also got laptops, but those were purchased separately - Rachel got hers so that she didn't have to do her senior thesis is the computer lab at school. I got mine so that I could have an easier time writing short stories and stuff - I'd had to write too many on the computer for school and I just can't adjust to using pencil and paper anymore - and now I can use Word wherever I am. I'm actually updating this on the RPL WiFi hotspot which is only sort of working - but it's working enough, so I'm happy.

My cousin Ben just started college - I think his first day of classes is today, but I could be wrong. I'm hoping all is going well for him, but I don't know his e-mail address to ask him - and to say welcome to college. Oh, well. I'll figure it out soon, I think.

Recently, I started e-mailing with a friend of mine from high school who is currently out of the country with the Peace Corps (she's in Zambia). It has been lots of fun, and has made me wish we'd done more talking in high school and college. I mostly met her because she became friends with some of my elementary school friends, but I'm glad I did. Our conversation has also helped me realize how much I've lost contact with so many of my friends - so if any of you are reading this, please send me an e-mail - I don't know if I have everyone's addresses anymore - I would be thrilled to chat with you.

Around this same time, I also started talking a bit with another friend from high school and we've had some good discussions as well. These have been following quite different topics from the other conversation, but I've also quite enjoyed them. Hopefully I'll be able to keep both of these up. Pray for that please.

I don't know what else to say for now, so I'm going to call that good.

Oh, one more thing. Tomorrow is Mom's birthday, so Happy Birthday to her!

Well, we went and picked Erin up from CSB today for Thanksgiving break. It went pretty well - the drive home was nicer - traffic in the cities wasn't as bad. On the way there it took 30 minutes to drive about 8 miles.
Tia really enjoyed the trip to get Erin, I think. She seemed to especially enjoy having us share supper and Cheez-Its with her - although she didn't get as much of the supper as she maybe would have liked and more Cheez-Its than she wanted (Jimmy spilled the box a bit near the end of the trip).
Jim (my boss) didn't have anything to say about the application yesterday - at least not yet - maybe he doesn't know? Andy (Jim's boss) did say thanks for having it sent directly to him - instead of making him go find from the HR office. I also had my one year review today. They're still quite happy with my work I got all 2's and 2.5's - (3's are best for most of them - and they're very rarely given). Just like the last one (six-month) I accurately shelved 100% of the books they checked (so that's all ten that they checked).
On my way out from work today I heard that someone brought in a book that was just a little overdue. It was supposed to be returned in 1979 (yes that long ago). It wasn't in the catalog anymore and probably never was - it didn't even have a barcode. People were wondering what to do with it - I didn't get to stay and listen to that part because I had to go home.
I kind of want to make Cheese Pennies to bring to the Farm on Thursday, but I don't know if everyone else wants to bring them (we have supplies for about 5 different things we could bring). Maybe I'll make them tomorrow anyway and we can have them at home even if they don't come with us.
It's getting late enough, I don't know if Erin and I will go running tomorrow or not, but we really probably should. Dad says we should also walk to the store tomorrow at some point - Grandma's birthday is on Friday and we should get her a birthday card. I'll have to see what Erin says - if we both go, Tia can maybe come with too (although then only one of us gets to pick out the card).
I like holiday themed items - I'm going to try Cranberry Blast Sierra Mist (I started out with Cranberry Ginger Ale, but this stuff was cheaper). I really wish Holiday Spice Pepsi was still around - I think that's my favorite flavor of pop. Since it didn't show up last year, I suspicious it won't be around again this year (although maybe I'll be lucky).

I can't believe I've taken so long to post a new entry. Apparently blogging isn't just my thing. I suppose not having my own computer and having to keep phone lines clear affect that somewhat though.
Life has been keeping me busy. I still work at RPL and still love the job. So, it was a bit difficult today - I found out last Friday that one of the people working the circulation desk will be switching to a new department and his position will be available. I filled out an application for it thinking that it would be more good experience for a possible full-time position (yes this new one is still just a part-time one) in the future (apparently there are a number of people that will be retiring in the next year or two). I got the application on Saturday, but didn't get a chance to fill it out this weekend, so I filled it out and dropped it off today. I forgot that by dropping it off today, there was a chance that my boss would be working the desk when I was doing that - and guess what - he was. I wouldn't worry about it except he probably already has to hire a new position, I don't want to give him another one - especially as it is the harder one to fill, and in addition, I don't want him to think I don't like my current one because I really do. I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see what he says - if he says anything; I didn't actually get a chance to say much to him today - he was putting reserves away when I was able to actually drop it off - I had to pause because I remembered I put one wrong date on it and had to change that. This shall be a strange week too - I don't work on Thursday like I normally do - and I work all day on Friday - 8:00 - 5:30. It will be a long, and probably busy day, but it will be fun.
I've also started running - I'm doing okay with it. I was running almost every day for a while - my sisters would come with me too and we'd have lots of fun. Then summer started to end and we slowed down - we were running closer to once or maybe twice a week. Then I went to about once a week after they both went back to school. Then after Erin was home for long weekend, running with her got me remotivated and I tried to go three miles (I'd only been doing two for quite a while). Then the following day that I was able to run (Monday - two days later) I tried to see how close to four miles I could go - and I made it the whole way. I did that the next two days as well. Then my schedule just got really busy and I couldn't go running for over two weeks. Now I am back down to two miles at a time, but I'm sure I'll work my way back up. I'd better - if I don't, the Hog Jog in July will be quite miserable for me - it's a 5 mile run. It's surprising - I actually enjoy running now - I used to hate it. A year ago, if you'd told me that I would have gone running for four miles just for fun, I would have laughed at you. Oh, well.
I've still been spending lots of time watching TV - I've got way too many shows I really like - Supernatural, Gilmore Girls, Bones, House, Medium, Life on the Rock, and Veronica Mars are the the ones that come directly to mind. And I'm getting crushes on characters from a lot of them - which is really frustrating because if I were to decide I'm not supposed to be a contemplative nun, nothing could ever happen with any of them. They're not real. The episodes sure are good though - they can get pretty tense.
I've gotten to read some really good books lately, many of which put new and strange thoughts in my head. The most recent book I've finished had a really interesting take on who would have been there to kill Cain after he killed Abel - the whole Land of Nod thing was quite intriguing. However the next book in the series looks even better. For anyone interested in new theological ideas try L.A. Banks' Vampire Huntress Series - it starts with The Awakening. I just finished book seven, I think.
I suppose this entry has gotten long enough, so I'll stop.
